Canada 1945 Steel Nickel MS63 No Chrome

Canada 1945 Steel Nickel MS63 No Chrome
This rare coin variety is missing the chromium plating!! Nickel was needed for the war effort, so later 1942 and 1943 dated coins were struck from brass. When tarnished, these looked like pennies, so chromium plated steel was introduced in 1944. We have been selling this rare No Chromium Plating variety for years. We know how rare they are! Perhaps a total of a few hundred known of both dates in all grades! So we also know how goofy Canadian Coin News trends are when they list this coin at a dollar!! This coin is Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. This is the first one of this date and grade that we have owned in over 15 years! Photo is of actual coin.
