This is a contemporary counterfeit of Breton 870. These tokens were struck in 1835 and were inferior in detail and weight to the originals. These were made in Montreal and shipped to Saint John, NB. From there they were sent across the Bay of Fundy to Nova Scotia. The counterfeiters originally issued some of these tokens with the date 1382, instead of 1832. This was quickly discovered, and the date was corrected. This one here is the corrected date. The overdate is quite evident, and the flaw under the king's nose is diagnostic of this overdate. This overdate is rare; one was recently offered on eBay with a $750.00US opening bid. Save hundreds on ours. This coin is a strong Fine, but is rough and shows scratches reverse - hence the cheap price! Photo is of actual coin.
